Salt Notes : ritual uses
Because of its inalterability, salt has accompanied for millennia the
ratification of contracts, the sealing of covenants. Ancient documents attest
to such rituals, the Bible in particular. For instance, the Book of Numbers
(18;19) mentions that “it is a covenant of salt forever, before the Lord.”
